Interorgan communication in health and disease

Communication between different tissues is a key evolutionary feature of complex organisms. There are numerous examples where a disease that develops in one organ leads to the functional failure of others via a crosstalk mediated by soluble factors. As CKD develops and progresses, other organs, including the liver, vasculature, lung and heart, are also directly affected.

We therefore are investigating interorgan signaling pathways between multiple organs in health and disease using experimental injury models and multi-omics approaches.
