STOP-FSGS

Speed Translation-Oriented Progress to Treat FSGS

The STOP-FSGS consortium proposes to follow our successful concept of combining preclinical basic science projects with translational projects to address all aspects of the complex disease of FSGS. The following main objectives will be addressed:

  1. Basic science projects will investigate the mechanisms of initiation and causative factors of FSGS, including genetic causes.
  2. Novel therapeutic strategies will be explored with novel in-vivo screening methods, advanced ‘omics approaches and by targeting promising candidate pathways identified in the previous funding period.
  3. Clinical translation will be achieved by testing novel diagnostic tests, new therapies in specialized outpatient clinics. A national registry for FSGS patients will be created to facilitate clinical trials and improve patient care.
