At the 7th meeting of the UKE Foundation's Board of Trustees, this year's prize was awarded to two female scientists. Dr. Nicola Wanner, III Department of Medicine, and Priv.-Doz. Dr. Simone Zittel, Clinic and Polyclinic for Neurology, made a lasting impression on the benefactors and donors with their research work.
Dr. Nicola Wanner impressed the audience with her project “Development of gene therapies for kidney diseases using targeted transduction of glomerular cells by nanobody-coupled adeno-associated viruses”. “I am overjoyed that we can now take the next step towards gene therapy for kidney diseases with the funding amount of 48,000 euros and would like to thank the UKE Foundation from the bottom of my heart,” said Wanner.
Priv.-Doz. Dr. Simone Zittel was delighted to receive funding of 53,325 euros for her project “Development of a closed-loop, phase-adaptive, non-invasive brain stimulation to reduce Parkinson's tremor”.
