A recent study by Wanner et al. was selected as Paper of the Quarter II/2022. The study was conducted within the BMBF-funded research consortium STOP-FSGS ("special Covid-19"). Using clinical, histopathological, molecular and bioinformatic methods the study shows, that SARS-CoV-2 has an affinity for the liver, which leads to liver injury and abnormal liver function.
