Dr. Felicitas Hengel, III. Department of Medicine, was awarded the Dr. Martini Preis 2026 - the oldest medical award in Germany. The prize, worth 15,000 euros, was awarded to her for her research work on anti-nephrin-mediated podocytopathy – an autoimmune disease of the kidney. Her work is contributing to a new understanding of the cause of autoimmune kidney diseases and paves the way for more precise diagnostics, a more accurate prognosis and cause-specific therapy.
