Paper of the Quarter II/2022 by Aypek et al.

August 2022 | News

A recent study by Aypek et al. was selected as Paper of the Quarter II/2022. The study was conducted within the BMBF-funded research consortium NEOCYST/STOP-FSGS. This study shows, that the enzyme prolyl 3-hydroxylase plays an important role in modifying the glomerularl filtration barrier in the kidney. The loss of P3H2 leads to thin basement membrane nephropathy, which results in impaired renal filter function associated with microhematuria and microalbuminuria with subsequent focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS).
