This work from the Hamburg Center for Translational Immunology identifies a novel population of GM-CSF producing T cells in glomerulonephritis. These cells activate monocyte-derived cells to generate matrix metalloproteinase 12, which leads to a cleavage of the glomerular basement membrane.
