The Kriz Award was presented to Dr. Nicola M. Tomas at the International Podocyte Conference 2025 in Hamburg. The award recognizes an early-to mid-career investigator (before 45 years of age) who has made innovative research contributions toward the understanding of glomerular biology or to the pathobiology of glomerular disease. Dr. Nicola Tomas, clinician scientist and attending physician at the III. Department of Medicine, identified the THSD7A autoantigen in membranous glomerulonephritis and developed models targeting PLA2R. His research has advanced the understanding of autoantibody-mediated tissue injury and informed new therapeutic approaches.
