The European Research Council has awarded Prof. Dr. Tobias Huber an ERC Advanced Grant. The research project on the severe form of kidney filter damage, focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), will be funded with 2.5 million euros over the next five years. The 'Decode and Cure primary Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis' (CureFSGS) project aims to identify the various forms of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis and develop new treatment options. CureFSGS combines large tissue sample collections and state-of-the-art analysis methods in order to develop new and, for the first time, gene-based therapeutic strategies.
