The Else Kröner-Fresenius Foundation is providing a total of 1.3 million € in funding for the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) to continue its iPRIME-Clinical Scientist programme for young researchers for another three years. The scientific focus of iPRIME-CS is on the molecular understanding of immune regulation and dysregulation in kidney diseases and autoimmune diseases. The aim is to develop new preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic applications. The programme is interdisciplinary in nature and involves leading international UKE experts for various organ systems. In their individual projects, the researchers will characterise and comparatively analyse excessive immune responses, infections and resulting tissue responses in these different systems. The iPRIME Clinical Scientist Programme complements the iPRIME Programme for medical students (iPRIME-MD) and medical scientists (iPRIME-PhD) to form a thematically closely linked training cluster that is unique in Germany.
